Britney and Justin Make Peace
19 December 2002
Former pop couple Justin Timberlake and Britney
Spears have finally stopped feuding following
their acrimonious break up and become friends
again. Spears and 'N Sync hunk Timberlake, both
21, have been at loggerheads since their split
earlier this year, but on Friday night at New
York's Suite 16 the pair decided to make peace.
A fellow reveler tells showbiz website Page Six,
"Britney was there first with a couple of
girlfriends. When Justin walked in with two guys,
they sat at a separate table. But he went over
and kissed Britney and talked for a bit." But
relations between the pop pair seem to have a
long way to go until they're as good as they
once were - on Saturday, Timberlake skipped
Spears' late 21st birthday party at Tan Da,
which was attended by Star Wars stunner Natalie
Portman. He opted instead to hit the Vip room at
Flow, where he grabbed a cordless mic and sang
over the music for nearly an hour and a half.
Gyllenhaal Denies Portman Romance
2nd October 2002
Rising stars Natalie Portman and Jake Gyllenhaal
are still single - they're not dating according
to the man himself. The 21-year old The Good
Girl actor is fed up with reports he is dating
the Star Wars beauty and wants to set the record
straight. He insists, "We're just friends. You
know, when you sit next to someone while you're
out to dinner with friends and reporters are
there, 'sitting next to each other' becomes 'snogging'
very quickly. She's a buddy."
Natalie Portman Dates Comic For A Week
9th August 2002
Star Wars beauty Natalie Portman is dating
American funnyman Jimmy Fallon for a week - to
help boost TV ratings for the upcoming MTV Video
Movie Awards. Funnyman Fallon, who has been
romantically linked with Winona Ryder recently,
explains in a series of hilarious TV commercial
that he had three conditions for hosting the
show on August 29 - and dating Queen Amidala was
one. The comic, a regular on America's Saturday
Night Live, also asked for a signed photograph
of Jesus Christ and a talking punk dog. In the
hilarious ads, a bored Portman asks Fallon, "Can
I go now?" to which he responds, "You've got
four more days, little lady," and then tells his
mohawked pooch, "She's mean, she's an actress."
DiCaprio and Maguire Eye London Stage
17th July 2002
Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire are the
latest Hollywood stars to eye roles on the
London stage - they want to replace Matt Damon
and Casey Affleck in "This Is Our Youth." The
hunky duo are considering taking the lead roles
in the Kenneth Lonergan's West End play when it
begins a return run in late autumn. According to
co-producer Clare Lawrence, they will follow
Hayden Christensen and Jake Gyllenhaal, who
appeared up to March, before being relieved by
Damon and Affleck. The third female role in the
production has yet to be decided but Maguire's
Spider-Man co-star Kirsten Dunst and Star Wars
stunner
Natalie Portman have both been to see the play
Dirty Movie 2
26th June 2002
Fifteen-years after Patrick Swayze and Jennifer
Grey steamed up cinema screens with their
raunchy hip-swinging moves, Dirty Dancing is
coming back. A sequel to the film, dubbed Havana
Nights, is set to begin shooting later this year
with a number of A-list stars rumored to take
the lead roles. Current favorites are Ricky
Martin and Natalie Portman. Havana Nights will
follow the life of a 17-year-old girl who moves
with her family to revolution-era Cuba. While
there, she defies her family's wishes when she
falls in love with a local dancer, who helps her
discover herself and a world beyond her
sheltered life. Filmmaker Guy Ferland is set to
direct.
Portman's Lesbian Lust
24th June 2002
Sensual Star Wars babe Natalie Portman has
feelings for other women. The stunning actress
who plays Senator Amildala in Attack Of The
Clones announced that, although she has never
explored her lesbian fantasies, she would not
rule it out. The sexy stunner, who once dated
Moby, claimed that although her personality is
more compatible with men she wouldn't want to
close herself off to girl only action. She says,
"I've never dated a woman or anything like it.
But I think it's much more the person that you
fall in love with and why would you close
yourself off to 50-per-cent of people?"
Portman's Rocker Beau
17th June 2002
Star Wars beauty Natalie Portman has found love
with a Los Angeles rocker. The Israeli-born
actress has reportedly started dating Adam
Levine, the frontman of Maroon 5. Levine, whose
voice has been compared to Jamiroquai frontman
Jay Kay, has just finished a club tour in the
U.S., including Johnny Depp's The Viper Room on
Sunset Boulevard. The five-piece recently
supported Nikka Costa.
Kelly Osbourne Gets Her Live Debut At MTV Movie
Awards
31st May 2002
Rock heiress and MTV star Kelly Osbourne will
sing live for the first time at this weekend's
MTV Movie Awards. The daughter of former Black
Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne has become a cult
figure among fans since the MTV documentary
about the wacky family first aired earlier this
year. The pink-haired 17-year-old recently
announced she is releasing a cover version of
Madonna's hit record "Papa Don't Preach." And
she will get her first chance to sing the track
live before a star-studded crowd and a TV
audience of millions at Saturday night's movie
bash at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
Kelly will be joined at the ceremony by hosts
Jack Black and Sarah Michelle Gellar and
presenters including Ben Affleck, Ewan McGregor,
Natalie Portman and Winona Ryder.
Natalie Portman's Israeli Dreams
29th May 2002
Actress Natalie Portman is determined to find a
home in her native Jerusalem, Israel, as soon as
political strife in the Middle East dies down.
The Jewish star admits she's deeply troubled by
ongoing violence in her homeland, but it's not
putting her off her dream of owning a home there
one day. She says, "I really love the States,
but my heart's in Jerusalem. That's where I feel
at home. Anytime anything happens to anyone
there, it's like a limb's been ripped off. I'm
very protective of Israel, obviously, but I'm
more protective of humanity than of any of my
own personal desires."
Christensen: I'm Not Gay
7th May 2002
Star Wars actor Hayden Christensen has lost
himself a potentially devoted fanbase by
laughing off suggestions that he's gay. A
leading American gay magazine declared
Christensen to be "definitely gay", and Hayden's
more amused than annoyed at the speculation. He
says, "It's hilarious. I'm not gay. It's amazing
how much people will speculate if they haven't
actual information to draw from, they just make
up whatever they feel is appropriate. "That's
cool. As long as the people I know and care
about know the truth then everyone else's
opinion doesn't really matter." Cast and crew on
the set of the upcoming Attack Of The Clones
film know where the 20-year-old's tastes lie -
he often forced extra takes of his kissing
scenes with stunning co-star Natalie Portman by
turning to the camera grinning and flashing a
thumbs-up. He laughs, "They would be like, 'You
have to stop doing that Hayden! Now we have to
do the whole scene again.' I'd be like, 'Fine'."
Portman Proud Of Turning Down Lolita
6th May 2002
Not having sex with Jeremy Irons is the best
decision Stars Wars actress Natalie Portman ever
made. Portman turned down the title role in
1997's Lolita remake opposite Oscar-winner Irons,
leaving the way open for Dominique Swain. She
explains, "It was widely reported that my
parents were over-protective prudes. They're not
- they just didn't want to see their 14-year-old
daughter having sex with Jeremy Irons. "I think
I would have been pretty upset to be in a sex
scene at 14, before I'd even experienced it in
real life. That's not something that I should
have had to deal with when I was growing up and
I'm very lucky that I didn't."
Natalie Portman: "I'm No Draft Dodger"
2nd May 2002
Stunning actress Natalie Portman denies she has
dodged military draft in her country of birth
Israel. The Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The
Clones beauty, 20, has quashed rumors that she
dodged out of serving in the Israeli army. She
says, "That's so ridiculous and I'm just stupid...
That's pretty much it. Because I was born in
Israel, every time I visit I have to get a note
from the army that says I'm exempt. I thought
that meant that I was drafted but that I got out
of it, so I said in passing in some stupid
interview, 'Yeah, I dodged the draft.' Then it
causes this controversy but it turns out you
don't even get drafted unless you live in
Israel, and I left when I was three. So clearly
they weren't wanting me in their army unless I
wanted to volunteer. So I don't know. It created
a controversy and I'm dumb and I'm corrected now."
Portman Puts Pen To Paper For Israel
23rd April 2002
Star Wars beauty Natalie Portman Has gotten
involved in an earth- based conflict - she's
spoken out to defend Israel from allegations of
racism. The hot young actress, who was born in
the beleaguered country, has fired off a furious
letter to The Harvard Crimson, the student
newspaper of the prestigious university she
attends. Portman was responding to an article in
the rag by fellow undergraduate Faisal Chaudhry.
The student described Israeli activity on the
disputer West Bank as "racist colonial
occupation, in which white Israeli soldiers
destroy refugee camps of the brown people they
have dispossessed for decades". Portman's
eloquent reply reads, "What he says is
distortion, as most Israelis and Palestinians
are indistinguishable physically. The Israeli
government is composed of a great number of
Sephardic Jews, many of whom originate from Arab
counties. The minister of defence, the minister
of finance and the president of Israel are all,
in fact, 'brown'. On this week's Newsweek cover,
the 18-year-old female Palestinian suicide
bomber and her 17-year-old female Israeli victim
could easily pass for twins."
In Attack Of The Clones
8th February 2002
Princess Leia's famous sexy bun hairdo is set to
make a comeback in Star Wars: Episode II -
Attack Of The Clones. Star Wars creator George
Lucas wasn't surprised when Carrie Fisher's
hairstyle in the original sci-fi trilogy caused
such a stir, and he hopes Natalie Portman's
image as Leia's mother Queen Amidala is met with
the same awe. But in a recent interview with
Lucas for her Conversations From The Edge talk
show, Fisher admits that hairdo almost didn't
happen. She tells Lucas, "You tortured me with
that hairstyle and I was too frightened that you
were going to fire me because of the 10 pounds
I'd put on that I went with it." Lucas retorts,
"That hairdo was designed to be noticed and it
was. That was the point. Fans will see how it
started out in the new film. Amidala wears that
hairstyle done the way it was originally
intended, but it ended up being modified and
brought down and becoming more braids. Yours
became smaller and smaller. Just wait until you
see hers - they're like two giant horns on the
side of her head." Fisher also used the
interview to challenge the movie maker about the
sadomasochistic connections to Star Wars -
Leia's gold bikini look as a slave in Return Of
The Jedi has become a standard at sex parties.
Lucas says, "I may have been naive but I missed
that whole S&M angle on the whole thing. There
was a little metal work to the suit but it was
appropriate for the time period."
Portman Quits After Family Shooting
4th February 2002
Natalie Portman has quit a new movie she was set
to appear in, after discovering a relative has
been shot in Israel. Portman was due to begin
shooting Merchant Ivory film Le Divorce in
Paris, France when she heard the news from her
war-torn homeland. The 20-year-old actress - who
was born in Jerusalem - immediately pulled out
of her role when she heard the shocking news.
